AN OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNOR SEYI MAKINDE -by Asimiyu Muhideen Abiodun

Dear GSM ,

Let me first and foremost seize this opportunity to congratulate you on the success you have recorded in the last Oyo State Gubernatorial Election.Truly , the success recoded showed that the good people of Oyo State need you now. And as a good and listening leader you had promised to be , here is a  matter that needs your urgent attention.

Sir, it about  Moniya - lbadan -Iseyin Road. The 65kn road  has become a death trap to its users.

Even though the out gone administration took a late action towards the rehabilitation of the road, it was later an effort  in futility as it yielded no result.

As l speak to you sir , the road has held many people captive and subjected them to be a slave to their environments. It has affected economy and social activities of the users.

For example , the farmers from the food basket of Oyo State ( from Oke - Ogun) , Iseyin  ljayi , Atan ,  Olorisaoko, Ajibade , Laye and a host of others who have seen Moniya Market as their nearby market to sell their farm produce couldn't transport them  to the market place because of the current condition of the road .Thus brings down the spirit of farming in them.

It is aslo affecting the government workers too...Teachers who are supposed to resume to  work by 7:30 am couldn't resume on time. Even though they leave home very early , they are to spend 3 to 4 hours on this  said  road before they get to the school.

So what do you expect teachers who went through that stress to teach their students while in School?

Those whose their houses are built along the  road are also in bondage of it..This road has become their boss. It dictates when to go out and when to come back.

Meanwhile , if they refuse to dance  its tune , that means they are looking for it  trouble . It destroys their cars , motorcycle ,tricycle  etc..

Similarly , this road has  caused accidents in a variety of ways, mostly due to the fact that it  creates an enormous hazard to drivers. In many instances, a driver may attempt to avoid a certain situation, like a pothole or pooling water which could cause a serious accident.

From my  findings , Moniya - lbadan - lseyin Road is the major road that serves about 50 communities in Akinyele Local. It serves 10 public Secondary Schools , private Secondary Schools and primary Schools.

This   same road is the major road that leads to Olorisa-Oko Health Center , Ijaye -Orile Heath center and others. Moniya-lbadan- lseyin Road is the major road which serves as the economic route for farm and agricultural produce into the state capital (Ibadan).

Sir, leaving this road untouched / aunattended to  will not do you any favor but to cause  more calamities.

I will be glad if your attention could  be   properly shifted to the road and do needful quickly.

An attempt to rehabilitate this road would boost both intra and intercity transport links improve trade , drastically reduce intercity transport connection.
