IT IS NOT OVER UNTIL WE WIN by Asimiyu Abiodun

“Fellow Nigerians, I can see you’re already tired of staying at home. After the additional 7 days lockdown, You can go out and enjoy yourself. The rest is between your immune system and God.”  President  Buhari

When  l saw the above statement credited to  president Buhari  , it touches me. It got  me arose that  all man for himself.

Fine  , those countries  who  have been  on the winning side against  Covid -19 Saga  went  through  a serious  hard time like total  lockdown and their citizens  cooperated with  them.

The leaders  in those  countries  also did  needful  by encouraging  their  followers to stay at home.

With an accurate and  a sophisticated  data,  they  were able to  reach and touch every  home with needed and meaningful  palliatives/relief materials.

Thus made it  more  easier on the part of the  followers to obey  their  leaders when  the trying  period  visited them  all.

But  reverse is the case  in Nigeria. Both leaders and followers are in different  sides in my dear country.

Even though   we had  alot of donors who  had come  out  to donate  money  and other  materials to help Government in the fight against covid-19 , some political  harlots  would  still  see those fat  donations coming  from  the  good  Nigerians  as an opportunity to  enrich  themselves.

That's my country (Nigeria) for your.

Only  in this  part  of the world  that  we play  politics with  everything. The fight  that  supposed  to be a collective fight is being handled  by only few people.  Then,  how  do  we secure  the victory in the end?

I understand the  fact that  this  trying period  has affected  alot  of homes  and their  businesses . But that  does not mean  we should  endanger our lives. Only  the brave and survival souls  will  tell the tale.

Moreover  , if total  lockdown  , social distancing,  and personal egen  are the  only  vaccines availabe to cure covid -19 in  this part  of the world  , let's  abide by the rules and the suggested precautions.

And the government both  at federal and State levels  should  also think deeply on how  to  reach out  to people in a reasonable  way.  Not  those audio decisions of a thing.

There should  semantic actions to make Nigerians  see their  glass half full  rather  than  half empty.

The fight  against  Covid-19 is everyboy's business  and together  we shall win.

A word they say is enough for the wise.
